It’s High Time for High Standards:  California Model School Library Standards Approved

On September 16, 2010 the State Board of Education (SBE) adopted the Model School Library Standards for California Public Schools, Kindergarten Through Grade Twelve. The Model School Library Standards for Students identify what students should know and be able to do at each grade level or grade span to enable students to succeed in school, higher education and the workforce.

Contacting the Assembly/Senate Budget Conference Committee . . .
and Your Legislator

Assembly/Senate Budget Conference Committee
The members of this committee must be contacted immediately. The simplest way to send a letter to an individual legislator is to address it:

Legislator’s Name
c/o State Capitol
Sacramento, CA 95814 (no room numbers are required)

The members of the Assembly/Senate Budget Conference Committee are:

  • Assemblymember Judy Chu
  • Assemblymember Rick Keene
  • Assemblymember John Laird
  • State Senator Wesley Chesbro
  • State Senator Denise Ducheny
  • State Senator Dennis Hollingsworth

Who is my legislator? To begin, all you need to know is your zip code. Start by going to the Assembly search page. The result of your search will give you your Senator and a list of Assembly Members for your area. Clicking on their names will take you to their homepages and show you the geographical area of those districts.

How do I contact my legislator? You can find contact information on a particular representative’s homepage, or you can go to the Assembly Member Directory. Each member has a link to their home page and their email address. Home pages list addresses and phone numbers of both the capitol office and the district office.

The California State Senate homepage lists the names of all the senators. Click on the name of your Senator – each home page lists email addresses, phone numbers (including district offices), and a map of the district.
